Looking for a place...

Hello, One has to start somewhere, and so I think I had better explain a bit. I am in a transition period of my life, looking for a new home, a new muse, a new project to explore. I am married with a more than average sized family, and yet I have maintained a private creative life while raising and teaching my kids.  I also have older creative projects that I'm going to be wrapping up, and finishing. I've been wanting a place to talk about various ideas, and projects and the process of creating them. I also want to begin linking my projects to pictures in an easy to read format. A kind of visual memoir, so to speak.

A blog format is great for this. I know that the modern idea is to use the blog as a stepping stone to becoming published. (Or at least it was about a dozen years ago...nowadays perhaps people use other tools as well.)  But still- the idea is good, whether or not I ever try to publish anything. Its good to have a mirror so to speak, so you can begin that process of reflection. Reflection and editing are really quite intensive practices.

Curate is a word I like to use a lot these days. Curating is selecting what one keeps and what one discards towards an overall goal. There is so much out there right now that I find the process of curating to be absolutely necessary. Modern life is overwhelmingly full, and if you do not curate, then you can easily be overwhelmed by the fullness of living.

Weirdly, I'm also feeling the need to to disengage from facebook and instagram. Consuming social media is just a  mindless activity these days, and I really need to be producing and working on something for myself instead. I say weirdly because blogging used to be something I was into before I got on facebook.(pre-2013, I guess.) I'm coming back to it again because I really like the memoir or diary aspect of it as well as the ability to explore ideas more. I write this primarily for myself. I'm not coming from a position of trying to influence a lot of people nor gain popularity so if I am strange blame it on my lack of interest in being an influence.

I'm exploring my interests here in this blog. Creativity, motherhood, family life, learning, writing, children, art, teaching and the conversations revolving around those topics. Do I have the voice to speak on these things? I wonder if I do. I expect I shall find out as I continue. I am going to let the topics and the conversation emerge naturally.

This is a manifesto of sorts. I'll let this first post guide me in how I set up the first pages.
